Vin Diesel graced the E3 crowd with his presence at the Vivendi
Universal booth on Thursday, sending the throngs of onlookers into a
frenzy of flash bulbs and screams of “Vin!” Mr. Diesel was on hand to
promote The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, the game
that will coincide with the release of the movie by the same name. The
Chronicles of Riddick will be a first person shooter/adventure game
that will allow gamers to be thrust into the story surrounding the
movie.

Also drawing a large crowd--but not signing autographs--was Vin
Diesel, who was on hand to promote The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape
from Butcher Bay. Since it was only a "celebrity appearance," Diesel
did not mingle with the hoi polloi around the VU Games booth, deigning
only to interact with select press and his assistant while striking a
macho pose. Given the darkness of the booth and the fact Diesel was
wearing mirrored sunglasses, many thought he was making his appearance
in character as Riddick, the light-sensitive, tough-as-nails killer
first seen in Pitch Black. But it's unlikely Riddick would need the
four bulky men in suits on the booth's perimeter, keeping the throng at
bay.
